Data Visualization Proposal

For my data visualization project I would like to cover the different PSAC West Football champions from the past 5-10 years and how the conference outlook has changed. The topic is relevant because this past weekend the Slippery Rock Football team won the PSAC championship.

I plan to use a horse race style visualization to show the different teams rise and fall with each years record. I plan to interview Chris Conrad, the offensive line coach here at SRU as he has been here over that stretch of time and seen the different teams that have won. Chris played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers, which also adds a news value due to the fact that Pittsburgh is the closest professional football team to Slippery Rock.

This visualization will give insights on which teams have stayed near the top of the ladder in the PSAC West and provide viewers with an understanding of which teams have been successful and which teams haven't. I will use the records from the past 5-10 seasons to collect the data and plot it out.
