For my data visualization project I chose to cover a topic that is close to my heart. I wanted to find out which teams have been successful in the PSAC West since the current group of teams began playing back in 2013. The chart displays the top teams based off of winning percentage against the other teams in the PSAC West.
One key element is that Slippery Rock has not fallen below the top half of the division over that span. The only year that Slippery Rock dropped to the middle of the pack was 2016 where they posed a 3-4 record against PSAC West teams. Another key element displayed is that Seton Hill has never surpassed the bottom half of the division since joining the PSAC in 2013. The best season recorded by Seton Hill over this span in terms of winning percentage was 2-5, which was done in 2015, 2016 and 2019. The three teams that have stayed near the top of the division over this span are Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), California University of Pennsylvania and Slippery Rock. Slippery Rock hasn't lost to a PSAC West opponent since 2017, where IUP hoisted the western championship.
To talk about the data, Offensive Line coach Chris Conrad a former member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and longtime coach at Slippery Rock:
All in all, this data displays how things have shaken out in the PSAC since the current teams have began playing. The data reflects how teams have fared in one of the toughest conferences in all of Division II Football. Being a part of a team in this division has given me an in-depth look at what it takes to be successful here and I can't wait to show my players the data so they can see how their hard work pays off.
